At RNS we use all solid wood cabinet doors and drawers with all of our stained and solid paint finishes. Our cabinet boxes are either white or Hardrock (maple look) melamine, this material remains straight and true over time and is more durable than plywood cabinet boxes.

Choosing a Contractor!
It is commonly recommended that before you decide on a contractor you should get three bids. This is relatively effective, for comparing apples to apples however: there are some significant problems with using this approach for choosing a contractor/renovator.
Each contractor will have different ideas, suppliers and products and will estimate accordingly. Everything from the cabinet layout, to the countertop, to the brands of plumbing fixtures may vary, if they are even planned for at all. Getting three bids, only gives you the illusion of providing a thorough comparison but without drawings, and specifications it is impossible to know what is actually included in the project.
So, how then do you choose a contractor with any confidence?
Make your choice based on comfort level, experience and reputation rather than nebulous bids. The relationship with your contractor helps ensure that the design will fit your budget and meets your needs. The plans that you develop together, will communicate the vision of the project onto paper so all parties understand exactly what will be happening. The specifications and estimate will further flush out the details of the vision and allow the dollar amounts to be determined.
An experienced design and build company, explores you goals and ensures that these goals are met at project completion. Because the contractor has experience, they can help keep the design grounded in reality and this helps to prevent misunderstanding and unnecessary delays. Choosing a contractor who can confidently design and build your project will avoid the inconvenience and miscommunication that can result when dealing with multiple companies, and will ensure that any permits and inspections that may be required are done at the correct stages.
